Chery Tiggo: the platform under several badges
The Tiggo underpins Omoda, Jaecoo and others. Knowing that means the documentation you need may be under a different name.
Chery is one of China’s larger manufacturers, and the Tiggo range underpins several newer badges sold in export markets — Omoda, Jaecoo and others.
That is useful to know when researching a fault: the platform documentation may exist under a name different from the one on your car.

Generic OBD-II works
Built for export with emissions compliance in mind, using CAN, and answering generic requests normally.

Start with the supported PID list
The most useful first action on any less-familiar vehicle. The ECU tells you what it supports, and that prevents searching for values that were never available.

The engines
Turbocharged direct-injection fours across most of the range, and the fault profile follows the architecture rather than the origin.
Boost. Underboost is usually a split hose or a loose clamp: turbocharger boost leak diagnostics and P0299 and P0234.
Intake valve carbon. As on any DI engine: GDI carbon buildup and P0301 to P0304 cylinder misfire.
Mixture codes from perished hoses. Fuel trims at idle versus 2500 rpm settle leak against metering: P0171 and P0174 lean mixture.
Cooling. Watch the temperature curve, not the gauge: P0128 thermostat deep dive and water pump failure signs.
Catalyst codes at higher mileage — rule out an exhaust leak and an ageing upstream sensor first: P0420 catalyst code explained.
Dual-clutch transmissions
Widely used, with the general rules:
- Fluid service on a real interval.
- Some low-speed hesitation is normal dual-clutch behaviour.
- Shudder, slip and warnings are not.
Log RPM against vehicle speed to distinguish design behaviour from wear: gears slipping on an automatic, transmission shudder at low speed and P0700 transmission control system malfunction.
Hybrid and plug-in versions
Where fitted, generic OBD-II gives the combustion side and nothing else.
Plug-in hybrid diagnostics and EV 12V battery failures — a flat 12 V battery immobilises a hybrid completely.
Electrical
Generous equipment means many modules, and a weak battery produces communication codes across unrelated systems.
P0560 to P0563 system voltage faults and when the scanner lies about ghost codes.
The badge-sharing angle
Practical advice for researching a fault:
Search for the platform and the engine code, not only the badge on your car. A Tiggo, an Omoda and a Jaecoo of the same generation may share the entire drivetrain.
Parts may be listed under several names, which is occasionally an advantage on availability.
Build a baseline early
On a brand with less accumulated collective knowledge, your own recorded history is worth more than usual.
Record fuel trims, coolant behaviour and charging voltage in the first month, then compare quarterly. Drift is what reveals developing problems.

Buying used
- Establish which platform and engine it actually uses.
- Read the supported PID list.
- Cold-start it yourself.
- Drive a dual-clutch example in traffic.
- Check parts availability for your market before committing.
