Car shakes at motorway speed: balance, bearing or driveshaft

Compare all four wheel speeds at a steady cruise. A wheel reading consistently differently points at a different rolling radius: wrong tyre size, badly mismatched wear, or a significantly under-inflated tyre. Also relevant after fitting a space-saver spare — wheel and tyre size change electronics.

Rule out the engine. If the vibration correlates with engine RPM rather than road speed, look at misfires and mounts instead: P0300 random misfire.

  2. Inspect tyres and wheels for damage, bulges, missing weights.

  6. Only then consider alignment, which fixes pulling and wear rather than vibration.
