5. Turbo and boost

Code P0299 — underboost, frequently with limp mode.

In most cases the turbo is not at fault; it is a leak in the tract or a variable geometry mechanism seized with soot. On a loaded van, lost boost is felt immediately.

6. Crankshaft position sensor

P0335. The nastiest scenario for a commercial vehicle: works cold, fails hot. The van stops mid-route and half an hour later starts as though nothing happened.
