P0755 to P0757: shift solenoid B circuit and performance
Solenoid B fails the same way as A, but the gears it removes are different — and that difference is what makes the code worth reading carefully.
Shift solenoids are lettered, and a typical four-speed automatic uses two — A and B — whose on-off combinations produce the four ratios. Six and eight-speed gearboxes use more, with correspondingly more codes.

The combination logic
Worth understanding, because it turns a symptom into a diagnosis.
On a classic four-speed, the pattern is roughly:

Exact patterns vary by manufacturer, but the principle holds: each gear is a unique combination.
So a solenoid stuck in one state does not remove one gear, it removes the gears that needed the other state. Which gears survive tells you which solenoid is stuck, and in which position.
Map the working gears before diagnosing anything. Drive the car, note precisely which ratios engage, and the answer is usually already visible.
Symptoms
- Missing gears in a specific pattern, rather than randomly.
- Stuck in one gear as the limp-mode response.
- Harsh shifts into or out of the affected gears.
- Gear ratio codes naming exactly the gears the pattern predicts: P0731 to P0736.
If both A and B codes are present, suspect something shared — the harness, the connector, the ground, or fluid contamination affecting the whole solenoid pack — rather than two independent failures.
Same causes, same order
Fluid condition and level first. Contaminated fluid is the leading cause of solenoid sticking, and clean fluid resolves a real share of intermittent cases: automatic transmission ATF diagnostics.
The solenoid, either sticking or electrically failed.
The internal harness, where fluid wicks through a hardened case connector seal and produces multiple simultaneous codes.
The valve body, where bore wear leaks pressure internally.
Pressure control, since a solenoid can only direct pressure that exists: P0745 to P0747 pressure control solenoid A.
Distinguishing this from slip
Two different faults that both make the car drive badly, and they need different repairs.
A solenoid fault means the wrong gear is selected. Engine RPM steps to a level that does not match the gear you expected, but it holds steadily there.
Slip means the correct gear is selected and the clutch is not holding. RPM rises without matching road speed.

What generic OBD-II gives you
Codes, and often commanded and actual gear. What it usually does not give you is solenoid duty cycles, line pressure, adaptation values and the transmission module’s own fault memory.
Those need enhanced access: P0700 transmission control system malfunction and scan tool limits.
Still, the RPM-against-speed log is available on any adapter and answers the most expensive question — solenoid or clutch — without one.
After the work
Reset transmission adaptations. A module that spent months compensating for a stuck solenoid will keep compensating for one that is no longer stuck, and the result feels wrong.

- Map exactly which gears engage.
- Check fluid level and condition.
- Read the transmission module for the full code set.
- Log RPM against speed to separate solenoid from slip.
- Drop the pan for solenoids, filter and evidence.
- Reset adaptations and verify.
