ASR OFF — traction control off

The amber ASR OFF icon (or just OFF with a wheel pictogram) signals that the anti-slip system is off. In most cases this is the driver`s intentional choice with a button — for snow, mud, or car-rocking.

What this indicator means

ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) — German/European name for traction control, synonym of TC/TCS. Turning it off lets wheels spin, which helps escape a rut, deep snow, or drift practice. For normal tarmac driving it must be on.

Common causes

ASR/TC OFF button pressed (most often)
Auto-off after several triggers in a row (system decides it is interfering)
Wheel sensor fault — the block turned it off automatically
CAN-bus issue
Low system voltage

What to do as a driver

Press ASR OFF again to re-enable. If after an ignition cycle (off/on) the light returns, that is now a real fault — read with an adapter.

Safety

Informational: intentional off is fine. Do not forget to switch on when back on tarmac.
