ECU
Electronic Control Unit — vehicle computer.
An ECU is a computer that controls a vehicle subsystem. The most common one is the ECM (Engine Control Module) which manages the engine. A modern car contains 20-100 ECUs (TCM for the transmission, ABS, BCM for the body, SRS for airbags, etc.) joined over the CAN bus.
